Junior Girls: Isobel Kelly represented Salerno in the Discus highlighting the wide variety of talents on display across the student group. Isobel blitzed the competition with her longest throw of 26.19metres beating the next placed athlete by 7metres. As Isobel is a junior athlete she has the opportunity to represent the school in the All Ireland competitions taking place on the 3rd of June in Tullamore. Best of luck to Izzy!

Intermediate Girls: In the intermediate age group Salerno were represented by Aining Zhan and Hannah Oliver, both third year, in the 3000m. Both put in an excellent showing with Aining narrowly missing out on qualification by finishing in 4th place with a time of 11:41minutes. Hannah and Aining, both cross country athletes earlier in 2023, have had an excellent year and will look to build on this experience in the coming years. Lianna Colleran had another consistent performance finishing 2nd in the 300m sprint. She finished narrowly behind the leader with a time of 43.46seconds. Lianna's performance qualifies her for the All Ireland track and field competition on the 3rd of June in Tullamore. Best of luck, Lianna!

Senior Girls: In the first race of the day, Beabhin Hosty competed in the walk. Her performance was steady and consistent and she did herself proud in what was a race of extremely high quality. Finishing her secondary school athletics career on a high, Ella O'Connor of LC 2023 placed 1st in the 800 metres. Continuing on from an excellent performance from last year, Ella raced home with a time of 2minutes 20. Ella, on top of her studies, now looks forward to an appearance at the all irelands in June. Good luck, Ella! In the triple jump, Ciara Farrisey finished 3rd with a fantastic jump of 9metres. This qualifies her for the all irelands where she will look to build on this performance.
